Easter Fun

We took Riley out to the fairgrounds today to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs. I was pretty sure the big meeting would be fine since she loves animals and would probably think that he was literally a giant bunny. I was right. She sat on his lap for a few photos and gave him a high five before moving on.

Riley was with two of her friends and we lined them up on the edge of the field where all the eggs were waiting. All three of them tried to break through the tape lining the field and we spent a long ten minutes trying to keep them from starting the hunt before all the other kids. Once the horn sounded, they were off and had a fantastic time. Riley took her hunting very seriously and came away with a full basket of eggs. Tomorrow, she'll have her own basket from the Easter bunny and more egg hunting with friends in the neighborhood.

Communication, Communication, Communication

A lunchtime conversation:
Riley: (raising her pointer finger--emphatic tone) ONE!!!!
Me: One what?
Riley: One Cheeeep.
Me: Have one more bite of sandwich, then you can have one chip.
Riley: No mama. No bite sandwich, bite cheeep.

Other common phrases heard around the house include "mere" (come here) and "mon" (come on) which usually precede Dada and Bau Bau. There's also, "good boy Bau Bau" and the newest version, "good boy Dada," which cracks us up every time. We like to go "side" (outside) and love to put on our "jackey" (jacket) to go "carey" (car).
She's also figured out that another way to communicate is to literally take you where she wants you to go to get you to do whatever she wants to do. It's pretty hard to resist when that little hand reaches for yours. She'll also come up behind me and use both arm to push on the back of my thighs to move me forward. She doesn't try that with TJ, I guess she knows he's got more height and weight and is less likely to budge.
There's never a dull moment around the house, and even though she's asserting her independence more and more, when the girl is being sweet, she's SOOO sweet.
Here we are at Kindermusic, helping Dad put together her play kitchen, and sharing a cheese stick with her best friend Kerington.
