Dapper Little Dude

Finally got Brody's one-year pictures done...just a little late...
I figure, as long as he's shy of 18 months, I'm still sort of on time.
The photographer is a local military spouse and friend. I think she does an amazing job. I could stare at these all day long. He's so incredibly handsome and animated. Here are some of my favorites:

End of summer fun

With summer winding to a close, and everyone really busy, we've got to squeeze in some final days of fun activities and outings with friends. Riley started her swim lessons last week and she's enjoying it, for the most part. She's slowly getting more comfortable with the idea of going under the water. Today, she actually did it herself, without prompting from her teacher, Miss Jane. She also likes wearing the "gobbles" over her eyes when she swims.

After three years of living here, we finally decided to venture to the Missouri State Fair this weekend. I knew the kids would love all of the animals, and that Riley would be excited for the carnival rides. Corn dogs, a pony ride, and the Children's Barn and petting zoo rounded out a perfect day trip.

Riley Roo's 3rd Birthday Party...splash down!

We spent the morning celebrating Riley's 3rd birthday...a week early...with some her favorite buddies. Splashing and cupcakes, what could be better? She had a blast, except didn't seem to like the attention when everyone was singing to her. She made a terrible scowl face...surprising for someone who usually loves the spotlight. Plus, I couldn't get the candle to stay lit in the wind. She pretended though, and hopefully made a great wish. My wish for her is to continue growing into the spunky, belly laughing, clever, beautiful child I'm blessed to spend my days with. Side note, she had her 3-year-old checkup Friday and Dr. says she's doing great. About 50th percentile for height (37") weight (31lbs) and BMI. Birthdays continue to be incredibly important to me...I think that all the planning and perfecting ironically helps me stop and reflect on how amazing these babies are and how quickly our days together pass. I can't wait to start the next year of her life and see what kind of new amazing magic unfolds.
